In Need of Adoption
Shyanne is a 5-6 year old female brush coat Shar Pei. Her coat is soft and
beautiful. Shyanne is very good with other dogs and is generally a couch potato
in a home. She likes nothing more than to lounge and be petted and snuggle with
you by the TV. She weighs barely 45lbs, so is on the small to medium size for a
Shar Pei. Her soft shiny coat and pearly white teeth are just perfect, so she is
one of the prettiest pei we have seen!
Shyanne is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Moe is a 3 year old male Shar Pei with a soft, velvety smooth black horsecoat.
He is very dog friendly and eager to please. Moe loves treats and car rides and
cannot wait to find his forever family to go on adventures with!
Moe is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
CoCo is a 2 year old female shar pei, recently rescued after having puppies. She is looking for a forever home. She is very good with other dogs and will be spayed, microchipped and up to date prior to adoption.
Chrissy is a 4 year old female brush coat shar pei. She is very sweet and was rescued from a shelter after showing up as a stray. She would love to find a foster or forever home. Chrissy will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Marley is a 7 year old female chocolate shar pei. She was adopted as a
puppy into a family - human mom and daughter - and life was good. But
life took a turn and the young single mom passed away from a long
illness. The daughter had to go live with grandparents and no one was
left for poor Marley. Well, not no one....Pei People stepped in and
gave her a home until another amazing home steps forward! She would
prefer a home with no other dogs (she isn't great with them as she never
had four legged siblings).
She is healthy, spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is currently
looking for a foster home ni the southern California or Las Vegas
Mario is a 1-2 year old male shar pei - we think he is a flowered! but that is hard to tell. He has a bad case of demodex (not contagious) mange. He was recently rescued from a Phoenix shelter and is looking for a foster or forever home. He is very friendly. (and he looks good in sweaters!)
Dallas is a 1.5 year old male shar pei suffering from long-untreated demodex mange. It is being treated now that he is a Pei People dog and in a few months, his coat should look beautiful. Unfortunately, his past owners also didn't treat for needed entropion surgery and he looks to be blinded by their lack of care. He has one ruptured cornea and appears to have no vision. We are waiting to see if he has any light/dark perception before making a decision on surgical correction to his eyes, but any foster or adopter should assume he is completely blind. (Blind dogs get along just fine, so dont let that deter you from adoption). Dallas came from a home where zero medical treatment was given during his life. We'd love to find a family taking care of his every possible need for the long remainder of his ilfe. He is on medical hold right now until he is stabilized and he is no longer has scabby sore skin.
Also, Hendricks Boards is donating $10 for each item purchased through this link to Dallas for next 30 days!!! So do some shopping and help a pei out!
Julep is a 2-4 year old female brushcoat shar pei. With those big goofy
ears, how can you not grin when you see her? She is shy at first, but
warms up. She had cherry eye (typical in young dogs) which was
surgically corrected, but does have a dry eye condition and may need
ointment or drops for life (these can be easily obtained
non-prescription from a vet or human pharmacy and are not expensive).
She is great with other dogs both large and small. She is crate trained
and does well on a leash. She would love a family to call her own!
Julep is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Coral is a 5 year old spayed female Shar Pei. She can be a little shy in new environments and needs a few minutes to warm up to new situations but seems to really love attention from people and kids. She sits for treats and we are working on teaching her how to walk on a leash.
She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. email: email@example.com
Sinbad is a 6 year old male shar pei, recently rescued from Las Vegas shelter. Sinbad is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He's on the smaller side. He is a happy boy, great with other dogs and loves his crate. He is learning basic commands but can be a little stubborn.
Josie is a 6 year old female shar pei mix. She was originally rescued and adopted for 5 years, but her owner had a debilitating stroke and Josie found herself back with Pei People. She loves to play with toys! She was good with dogs but has spent the last 5 years as an only dog (and is still fine with dogs as far as we know).
Josie is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is in Southern California and is looking for a foster or forever home.
Kiona is a 1 year old traditional style shar pei. She is a fawn and is very friendly. She is indifferent around other dogs (ok with small dogs) and generally ignores them. She does rebuff and growl when they want to engage her in play. She would do best as an only dog, but is fine to go on walks and take along for errands where you might encounter other dogs.
Kiona is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is in the Southern California area and is looking for a foster or forever home.
Gimlet is a 3 year old female fawn horsecoat shar pei. She was found stray and was definitely a well-loved house dog (and well fed!). She is about 54 pounds (and should be about 45). She is very timid at first - scared. She does warm up and walks well on a leash, lets you check her ears and give scratches.
She is quiet and polite. Gimlet is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is good with other dogs and has been to doggie day care and did fine.
Pudgy is a 1.5 year old male shar pei. He is a fawn brush coat and will be neutered shortly. His eyes look good and he could stand to gain a couple pounds (ironic given his name). He was surrendered by his owners after they lost job/home. He is fostering in the Phoenix area and is now interviewing families or individuals for a forever home. He gets along well with other dogs, is well mannered around food and would fit into any home well.
BB King is a 55 pound black male shar pei. He is a big slobery sweety and rides well in a car. BB King was recently rescued from a Phoenix area shelter and will be neutered and microchipped shortly. He is up to date on vaccines and we are having his eyes evaluated for entropion (eyelid) surgery. We are looking for a foster and forever home for BB! We think he is about 5 years old.
Kadee is a 6 year old male fawn shar pei. Kadee ended up in a Northern California shelter. Kadee is very social - good with kids, dogs and people. He is a house dog and prefers to be inside, lounging and relaxing with YOU!.
He is housetrained, well behaved and polite. He would love a home with another dog as a playmate. Kadee is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Violet is a 40 pound 1-2 year old black brush coat female shar pei. She
is very sweet! Walks well on a leash and know some basic commands like
sit and down. She is currently fostering with a cat. She is dog friendly
and loves people. She gives plenty of kisses and enjoys following her
foster mom around the house and yard. She is completely house trained as
well as comfortable in her crate. Violet is pretty much the perfect all
Jarven is a 1 year old male shar pei. He passed all his temperament tests at the shelter - good with dogs, good around food. He walks well on a leash and rides calmly in a car. He is also non-reactive to other dogs (probably quite good with them). He came from Las Vegas shelter and is looking for a forever home! He is being treated for an ear infection, and his eyes look great.
He knows sit, shake and will even roll over for a treat!!! Jarven is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
illow is a 2 year old female blue brushcoat shar pei. She is on the
smaller side and was recently rescued from a Las Vegas area shelter.
She is very sweet and friendly - great with adults and kids. Willow can be good with other dogs, but only after a slow introduction. Her first reaction with new dogs is to walk up and bite them, so she is not going to be a good choice to interact with lots of new dogs (dog park, coffee shop, walking in neighborhood with lots of dogs). That being said, she is playing with our other shar pei at the kennel who she knows, so she could be placed into a home with other dogs as long as she gets to be alpha.
Willow is very puppyish and high energy - she'd love a yard or someone that can exercise her. Willow is spayed, up to date on
vaccines and is microchipped.
Chardonnay is a 1-2 year old female fawn horsecoat shar pei. She was one of 4 shar pei confiscated from a breeder in central California. It was clear she had never been on a leash before - but she is improving every day. She had a microeye (born with a very small eye with no vision) so she has had that eye removed and had entropion (eyelid) surgery on the other to make sure her lashes dont rub on her eyeballs/corneas. Despite having one eye, she is normal in every other way. She is good with the other dogs she came in with (Zin is her pal).
We'd love to find a home that is willing to work with her and be patient while she learns leash training, basic obedience and all the modern (scary) conveniences of modern life (stairs, mirrors, etc).
Chardonnay is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Paco is a 2-3 year old brindle shar pei mix. He is very playful and loving. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. He gets along with other dogs well (he prefers the girls to the boys).
Nemo is a 7 year old male horsecoat shar pei. He is recommended to be with same size dogs (he'll chase tiny dogs), is good with kids, dog
door trained, shows no aggression when feeding, like to sleep outdoors on
chairs and is pretty easy going. He walks well on a leash and is a happy boy. Nemo is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. He is only about 35 pounds. Perfect for single person or even a
Taro is an approximately 3 year old male black brushcoat shar pei. He is in the southern California area and is a good boy. We are treating him for an ear infection (he's not fond of people messing with his ears as they hurt) and he is ready to start interviewing his prospective new parents.
Taro is about 50 pounds, is microchipped, neutered and up to date on vaccines.
Percy is an 18 month old male black shar pei. He is timid and scared at first (note tail down in photo taken just after coming out of shelter), but warms up quickly and is a happy playful boy (see video below).
He LOVES to ride in the car (will jump right in), he appears good with other dogs and is not a barker. Percy has gorgeous long legs and is right at 60 pounds. Happy, funny and playful, Percy is looking for a new home!
Mimi is a 5 year old female chocolate shar pei. She was left at a vet's office after being treated for wounds (looked like maybe harness cut into her sides) and now she's a Pei People girl! Mimi is high energy when she wakes up and then settles down....she LOVES people and wants to be around them.
She has been to doggy day care and been fine with a pack, but doesn't do as well 1 on 1 with other dogs - she is very dominant and will put another dog in their place. She will be best as an only dog with a family who is home a lot of the time (she loves the attention). She is crate trained (but not crazy about crate) and prefers a little canned food on top of her kibble at meals. She is not a fan of baths, but will go into the water at dog beach (go figure!). She has shown fear around some men (but doesn't get agressive, she retreats). She is around 40 pounds.
Mimi is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She is a happy girl and would like a forever home!
Sparkles is a new female just in from a southern California shelter. She is a stunner. Her eyelids need entropion surgery - which we will schedule. She is not great with other dogs. (seems pretty young - best guess 2-3 years).
She will be spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines prior to adoption.
Penny is a young female fawn shar pei. She has some skin issues and was severely underweight when we got her out of shelter. She is up to 32 pounds (35 would be ideal). She is such as sweet and goofy girl as reported by her foster family. She has a very puppy-like personality - very playful and happy. She is crate trained and housebroken. We are continuing to put weight on her. We believe she needs entropion (eyelid) surgery. Penny is on a special diet and has IBD and would do best in a home with a doggy door or easy access to yard. She is great with other dogs.
Here is video of Penny (on couch) trying to get others to play!
Penny is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Maggie is a 5 year old black horsecoat female shar pei. She was turned into the shelter because her owner moved.
Maggie is very mellow. She rides really well in the car and walks well on leash. She is house trained and doesn't bark at house guests, the mailman or things outside the house.
She is friendly with other dogs and people and will stop to says hello to both while on her walks. She is timid at first but once she feels comfortable and she comes out of her shell, she will give gentle little kisses and will interact with you and want to be pet. She will even come when called. She can be possessive of her food bowl around other dogs.
Maggie is spayed prior, up to date on vaccines and is microchipped.
Bevo is a 6 year old cream horsecoat male shar pei. He was surrendered by his owners who could no longer keep him due to a move. When we got him he was severely underweight and had suffered since a young age from bowel issues and keeping weight on. Our vet discovered a B12 vitamin deficiency which made it hard for his body to absorb food/nutrients. We started supplementing his diet with B12 and put him on easily digestable Rx food and he's gained 9 pounds! He's now 44 pounds and looking for a good home that will continue his careful diet.
Bevo is good with other dogs, has lots of energy and is playful. He needs some improvement on a leash (he pulls and zig zags with enthusiasm). He is not a barker, is crate trained and is totally potty trained. He loves food and learns quickly He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines.
Notes from his foster mom: If you are looking for an easy to own, loving, 110% house trained, bundle of
joy, Bevo is your guy. Bevo has blended into my household with 3 other dogs
without a hitch. He loves walks and we are working on his heeling skills. He
is a quick learner. Bevo gets along with my other Shar Pei and plays endlessly
with my male, Bevo's favorite. I can leave him in the house without a worry of
him doing any harm. He is just the sweetest boy. Bevo would do great with
another dog or by himself and a human companion.
Dolly is a lilac female shar pei, age 8-9. She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. She was found with another dog (already adopted) and is good with other dogs.
It appears she’s had a rough life
and has scars to prove it, but Dolly is a happy girl with a cute
personality who likes the wading pool, walks and going for car rides. She’s
active and not a barker, but she does have some kidney issues and is on
renal-friendly food and supplements. Sweetheart Dolly has been waiting
for a new home for quite some time and would love to have a loving home
of her own!If you are looking for love, Dolly’s cute face is irrestibile!Location: Southern California. If interested in giving Dolly a home, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Noelle *special needs*
Noelle is a 4-5 year old isabella horsecoat female spayed shar pei. She was found as a stray and is super sweet and nice - loves to give kisses. She is microchipped, up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption. She is good with people and most dogs. She doesn't seem to see well and we'd recommend a family without small children. We'd love to find this girl a nice foster or permanent home! She is 53 pounds.
Noelle has a condition where the lens of her eyes are not unstable and not held firmly in place. She can see distance fine, but seems to have more difficulty with close vision. She compensates fine through sound and smell. However, she needs eye drops daily to keep inflammation down. This condition does have the possibility of degrading with eventual loss of vision as she gets older.
This handsome boy is Charlie and he is a 70 pound bundle of joy. He is good with neutral, calm dogs, but would probably do best as an only dog at home (but good on walks, companion for coffee shops, etc). He is approx 9 years young. He is tentative around everything at first and clearly was used to having another dog "lead" and he followed. On his own he can be fearful around new things, but does adjust and warm up to new people. He walks well on a leash.
He is very comfortable around a swimming pool and a couch (a favorite spot!). He is neutered, up to date on vaccines and ready for adoption.
Mister is a fawn male horsecoat shar pei. He is neutered and is 5-6 years old (best guess). He is very sweet and was rescued from a central California shelter. He is a bit alpha and would like a strong owner with rules. He is great on leash - doesn't pull and is fine with other dogs (he's fostering with several other dogs).
